Love and Fashion

Valentine’s Day is quickly approaching yet again. Im excited. Not because of the “holiday”, but because that’s the day I can order my cap and gown for graduation! So I will definitely be smiling on that day!

I am not the one to ask if you want advice on what to do or where to go for a Valentine’s Day date. However, if you need help with your wardrobe, I am at your service! I can’t help you be romantic but I can help you look good while doing it! LOL

Red Is the ‘go to” color for Valentine’s Day. Red equals love and hearts and whatnot. So naturally, I’m going to include a good bit of red options (outfits, shoes, beauty products, etc.). However,   I will include more options that aren’t red. Maybe 2012 is your year to mix it up on the “Most Romantic Day of The Year”

Here are a few options for you ladies that want to stick with tradition and wear the "color of love". Red dresses are always sexy whether its Valentine's Day or not. You're sure to get your Sweetheart's approval in a good red number!

If you want to extend the red from just your actual clothes, then you can choose some red shoes, a red purse or some red jewelry. However, be careful when wearing a red outfit not to overload on red accessories.

I love a good red lipstick! Red lips just exude sass and seduction. Perfect elements for Valentines Day! Also, red nail polish can be a bold statement. Especially if you get a ring as your V-Day gift! :-)

Here's a red look that I put together. Jumpsuits may make some people think "Camel toe" or auto repair man, but worn the correct way they can be fierce. I've paired a red jumpsuit with a blazer and some amazing pumps. Nothing auto repair man about it! The camel toe part would be based on what size you buy. LOL TRY IT ON BEFORE BUYING!

If you want to skip out on red all together. You can wear whatever color suits you. Maybe consider wearing your Valentine's favorite color or if there's a certain color he just swoons over you when you wear it, this would be the PERFECT time to pull that color out. If there isn't a certain color he prefers, then maybe there's a certain dress, pair of pants or skirt that he loves to see you in. You can wear something he likes but still make it a look you like by adding fun accessories or some fab shoes that you swoon over!

Get out THAT dress, skirt, etc. he loves. I guarantee he will appreciate it!

A color that can also be associated with Valentine's Day is pink. Add a pop of Hot Pink to a dark ensemble. In the look above I chose navy and cream pieces as a base and a hot pink skirt as the pop of color.

I decided to throw in something a little fun and maybe some colors everyone may not mix together. The dress is a deep purple and I decided instead of doing just basic gold accessories to choose some that had turquoise in them as well. Very bright and fun. You'll definitely stand out!

I just died over this blue dress. I LOVE a good slit in a long dress. I chose some amazing gold sandals that would elongate your leg even more. A nice python clutch for a little texture and some drop hoop earrings complete the look.

I must admit. Even though I am a color lover, I tend to usually have a lot of black in my looks. Its just so easy to make it anyway you want: casual, dressed up, chic, sexy, etc. I know Im not alone in wanting to wear a little more black in my wardrobe! I decided to pair some basic pieces with bold shoes and jewelry. The necklace is everything! Its huge and adds so much life to this look.

I hope that everyone enjoys their Valentine's Day! If you don't have some other person to be your Valentine, be your own! Treat yourself to something you think is fun or buy yourself something nice! Still get dressed up! Show yourself some appreciation! Remember, If you cant love yourself, how are you going to love somebody else?

Love,
Coco

Thank You For Your Opinion

Someone told me recently that they think my degree in Fashion Merchandising will be worthless once I graduate next month. They actually said the word WORTHLESS. Had that person told me that about a year ago, I would've started thinking "Is my degree worthless?" "Will I get a job?" "Did I waste my time/money?" However, I have been in such a good place recently that my response to that was "Thank you for your opinion." I did not let the negativity get to me. Instead, I put it in the same pile as the rest of the negative comments I've received in the last few years. If I listened to everyone that said something negative (i.e. "You're not going to go back to school" "Grad school is not an option for you", etc.) then I would be sitting at home, in my room, drowning in my sorrow like I was a few years ago when I was suffering with depression and an anxiety disorder. I was able to pull myself out of depression and funct

I cant LYE, I love my Natural Hair

Hello, my name is Courtney and I used to be addicted to Creamy Crack. It was an addiction that lasted for years. Finally, about a year ago, I decided to kick that bad habit. Cold turkey. It wasn't easy, but I made it. I can happily say that I am finally natural and loving it!  The process of going natural is difficult. Anyone that tells you it isn't, is lying through their kinky curly head! Resisting the urge to perm is hard. There were many days that I would look in the mirror and just stare at my hair in pure disgust. I had a real love/hate relationship with my hair for a few months. Luckily, I have a live-in beautician (hey Kel-Bel!) that assisted me through the tough times. She was like my transition sponsor! She went through the process so it made my transition not as horrible as Ive heard they can be.                                        Me and my Naturally Beautiful sister Kelly  After being anti-weave for years, I got my very first sew-in during my transition. Undergrad has come to an end...But its FOREVER LSU!

In June 2009, I made my triumphant return to college. After sitting out of school for nearly 4 years, I officially became an LSU Tiger. I walked on campus (got lost!) and felt proud to be there. I was so excited to begin my journey as a Fashion Merchandising major. I was ready to see what LSU had in store for me. Now, its May 11,2012 and I am officially done with my undergraduate degree. I took my very last final this week and I am now awaiting graduation (7 days!). Can you believe it? One week until graduation. Signing my Senior Checkout papers I still remember my very first class, Intro to Fashion Design. I learned about colors, sketching, and fashion figures. I even designed my first "line". I still have that project on the wall of my room.                                                                    My 1st Project During my time at LSU, I got to put my love of drawing and fashion to use, created business plans, designed bridal gowns, designed/set up a mer
