Love and Fashion

Valentine’s Day is quickly approaching yet again. Im excited. Not because of the “holiday”, but because that’s the day I can order my cap and gown for graduation! So I will definitely be smiling on that day!

I am not the one to ask if you want advice on what to do or where to go for a Valentine’s Day date. However, if you need help with your wardrobe, I am at your service! I can’t help you be romantic but I can help you look good while doing it! LOL

Red Is the ‘go to” color for Valentine’s Day. Red equals love and hearts and whatnot. So naturally, I’m going to include a good bit of red options (outfits, shoes, beauty products, etc.). However,   I will include more options that aren’t red. Maybe 2012 is your year to mix it up on the “Most Romantic Day of The Year”

Here are a few options for you ladies that want to stick with tradition and wear the "color of love". Red dresses are always sexy whether its Valentine's Day or not. You're sure to get your Sweetheart's approval in a good red number!

If you want to extend the red from just your actual clothes, then you can choose some red shoes, a red purse or some red jewelry. However, be careful when wearing a red outfit not to overload on red accessories.

I love a good red lipstick! Red lips just exude sass and seduction. Perfect elements for Valentines Day! Also, red nail polish can be a bold statement. Especially if you get a ring as your V-Day gift! :-)

Here's a red look that I put together. Jumpsuits may make some people think "Camel toe" or auto repair man, but worn the correct way they can be fierce. I've paired a red jumpsuit with a blazer and some amazing pumps. Nothing auto repair man about it! The camel toe part would be based on what size you buy. LOL TRY IT ON BEFORE BUYING!

If you want to skip out on red all together. You can wear whatever color suits you. Maybe consider wearing your Valentine's favorite color or if there's a certain color he just swoons over you when you wear it, this would be the PERFECT time to pull that color out. If there isn't a certain color he prefers, then maybe there's a certain dress, pair of pants or skirt that he loves to see you in. You can wear something he likes but still make it a look you like by adding fun accessories or some fab shoes that you swoon over!

Get out THAT dress, skirt, etc. he loves. I guarantee he will appreciate it!

A color that can also be associated with Valentine's Day is pink. Add a pop of Hot Pink to a dark ensemble. In the look above I chose navy and cream pieces as a base and a hot pink skirt as the pop of color.

I decided to throw in something a little fun and maybe some colors everyone may not mix together. The dress is a deep purple and I decided instead of doing just basic gold accessories to choose some that had turquoise in them as well. Very bright and fun. You'll definitely stand out!

I just died over this blue dress. I LOVE a good slit in a long dress. I chose some amazing gold sandals that would elongate your leg even more. A nice python clutch for a little texture and some drop hoop earrings complete the look.

I must admit. Even though I am a color lover, I tend to usually have a lot of black in my looks. Its just so easy to make it anyway you want: casual, dressed up, chic, sexy, etc. I know Im not alone in wanting to wear a little more black in my wardrobe! I decided to pair some basic pieces with bold shoes and jewelry. The necklace is everything! Its huge and adds so much life to this look.

I hope that everyone enjoys their Valentine's Day! If you don't have some other person to be your Valentine, be your own! Treat yourself to something you think is fun or buy yourself something nice! Still get dressed up! Show yourself some appreciation! Remember, If you cant love yourself, how are you going to love somebody else?

Love,
Coco

Its Spring!...Kinda.

Depending on where you are in the country and what day of the week it is, Winter is making its exit and Spring is sashaying in. Gone are the days of covering up as much skin as possible to avoid the savage chill of winter's wrath. Now, we can bask in the warmth of the sun and the cool breezes of Springtime. According to my calendar, Spring "officially" started about a week ago. If you are lucky enough to live in a place that has seen a rise in temperatures and the return of the sun, this post is for you! If your area's temperatures havent quite gotten that "Its Spring!" memo yet, I'm sorry. Maybe you can think happy, warm thoughts and use this post as inspriation as you daydream about the warm weather ensembles you will debut when the temperature catches up to the calendar.  I, for one, am very excited about Spring. I love any weather that allows me to either particiapte in #SundressSeason or wear my go-to jeans and a cute tank and sandals. I really love...

My Resurrection

On March 19, 2017, I took a huge step in my spiritual journey. I walked into a baptism pool, lowered myself into the holy water, and allowed my mind, spirit, heart and body to be cleansed. I rose up from the water with a new outlook. I was ready to embark on the next steps of my journey as a baptized woman. A year later, I am reflecting upon the 365 plus days since my baptism and I am amazed by the growth I've experienced. Was the journey easy? Absolutely not. Was it easier to face the battles and adversity after renewing my relationship with God? Absolutely. I have constantly been reminded that God never said weapons wouldn't form. He said they wouldn't prosper (Isaiah 54:17) . I hit some bumps in the road (spiritually, financially, mentally, and physically). I went through a short season of confusion and lack of motivation. I was angry with God. I yelled at Him! (Ever seen me yelling and upset? Then you know this wasn't cute!) Literally, ye...

Starting With The Woman In The Mirror

Ive “let myself go” recently... havent pampered myself or put much effort into my outward appearance for awhile because I was uncomfortable with my “new body”. I didnt know how to be Courtney anymore because I didnt feel like Courtney anymore. The girl that had hundreds of clothing items has had her closet reduced to a few things that “fit” and a few others she cant bring herself to part with (the local Goodwill dropoff bay has seen me often this year).  Im tired of looking in the mirror and not feeling my best. Im tired of just being “okay” with the way I look.  Im done being insecure, unsure of myself & weighed down (no pun intended) by the extra pounds. I have to love myself no matter what size I wear. No matter what the scale says.  Changes are happening. Mentally. Physically. Emotionally. Im changing. Im caring again. Im going to love myself again. Inside and out. Get ready for a comeback! ...
