Christmas Gift Ideas: DIY

After an interesting week of finals (let’s just say I’m glad it’s all over), I am finally on break from school until January 17, 2012! That means a few weeks of holiday fun and relaxation. Needless to say, I’m ecstatic! In the spirit of the holidays I’ve decided to do a post on Christmas gift ideas. Not just ANY gift ideas, Do-It-Yourself (DIY) gift ideas! I know when some people hear, DIY, they automatically assume its someone’s way of being cheap and expect something that has as much artistic thought behind it as a   Kindergarten   play-doh project. Well, they’re wrong! DIY gifts can be just as good as something you purchase from a store. Also, its way more personal and can be more time consuming (making stuff is not always quick and easy!). If you feel like being creative, have a little time on your hands, and want to give someone a gift you’ve made, then here are a few ideas for you! As I stated in a previous post ( I was SEW surprised! ), I recently received my very fi...

The Sexiest Night on Television

Tonight the annual Victoria’s Secret Fashion show aired on CBS. Let’s all join together and scream “OMG!”. *pauses for that moment* All of the beautiful lingerie, fierce models, glitter, music, and wings had my mind blown! I just watched in awe. I sat there, as I do every year, in head-to-toe VS apparel (including wearing VS Sexy Little Things NOIR body mist ) secretly wishing I was one of those models. In my head, I’m a VS angel, I have wings, and I get to promote the sexiest brand in the world next to some of the most beautiful women in the world. But, as I said, that’s all in my head! In reality, I’m just another VS fan that was posted in front the television, taking in the wonders of the VS franchise. Every year I anticipate this fashion show more than others. Why? For the last ten years I have been OBSESSED with Victoria’s Secret. I love the stores, catalogs, models, lingerie, perfumes, loungewear, etc. I just absolutely love all things Victoria’s Secret. It’s a big ball of ...

I was SEW Surprised :)

So I was surprised by my mom & stepdad a little while ago with an early Christmas gift. Guess what it was? A sewing machine! I was so surprised and excited that I teared up! I have been saying for awhile now that my goal for next year was to get a sewing machine and to learn how to construct garments, home decor, etc. I planned to buy a sewing machine at the beginning of 2012. Well, my mom & stepdad beat me to it! Im so excited!  My lovely new sewing machine! Its a limited edition Project Runway sewing machine! During my break between semesters (Dec 10th - Jan 16), I will put my new gift to use! My mom has already put in a request for a New Orleans Saints pillow and my sis wants a v-neck shirt! LOL I cannot wait until I complete my first item and I am able to share my work!  Just took a break from starting my finals prep to share that!  Til next time, Coco

MISSING MOST OF THANKSGIVING & A 10 HOUR BLACK FRIDAY TRIP

So I spent the majority of Thanksgiving sleeping! LOL I was a little under the weather so my medicine had me out of it until about 530 pm! However, I did wake up long enough to eat at about noon but then immediately went back to sleep. Once I woke up for about 5:30 (technically, my mom woke me up LOL), I was feeling much better and ready to eat again. I ate and spent time with about 12 of my family members, including my 2 godchildren. At about 730pm, I actually put on real clothes (I spent the day in pajamas), and prepared to go Black Friday shopping. I said all this week I was NOT going out there, but my auntie Randi & my sister Kelly talked me into it. So a little after 8pm we headed to our first stop: Wal-Mart. OH. MY. GOD. The chaos in that store was unbelievable. People were arguing, fighting, stealing, pushing, etc. all over some $2 DVDs, $90 TVs and $30 DVD players. I sat in line for three and a half hours for a TV that was on sale. Why? Because it was the TV we wanted to g...

Thanksgiving and Bayou Classic

One of my favorite holidays is now just days away. That holiday is THANKSGIVING! I love any holiday that focuses on food! I am looking forward to all the delicious food that my family will prepare. I can just taste the stuffed bell peppers, baked macaroni, ham, turkey, buttered rolls, peas, desserts and gumbo now! (licks lips and wipes slight dribble of saliva from chin). Another big event that happens during this time of year in the South is the Bayou Classic. It’s a big football game, step show & battle of the bands between Southern University and Grambling State University that takes place in New Orleans. The events begin the day after Thanksgiving and last throughout the weekend. Thousands of people travel from near and far to attend the Classic and to enjoy the sights (and food! Lol) of New Orleans. As with any big holiday or event, fashion plays a major role. Many people spend countless hours deciding what to wear to the festivities. Well, Im here to help with a few suggest...

MY LITTLE GLAM FAIRY: KELLY LOU

Today’s entry is about my fabulously talented sister Kelly. This past August she graduated from beauty school and is now the new talent at Panache Salon in Baton Rouge. I am so proud of her!   ( wipes tear) My baby is all grown up now and beginning her career as a beautician. I know she is going to do amazingly well in her career and I cannot wait to see where it takes her!                                                     Anytime I have an event to go or just any old random day, I have her do my hair and makeup. She is responsible for my “big cut” when I went natural, she did my sew-in recently, she flat irons my natural curls, and gives me product advice. I also have her do my makeup because honestly, she makes my eyes pop way more than I ever could. I swear while I was standing in line for height, she was standing in line for talented hands. You t...
