My Resurrection

On March 19, 2017, I took a huge step in my spiritual journey. I walked into a baptism pool, lowered myself into the holy water, and allowed my mind, spirit, heart and body to be cleansed. I rose up from the water with a new outlook. I was ready to embark on the next steps of my journey as a baptized woman. A year later, I am reflecting upon the 365 plus days since my baptism and I am amazed by the growth I've experienced. Was the journey easy? Absolutely not. Was it easier to face the battles and adversity after renewing my relationship with God? Absolutely. I have constantly been reminded that God never said weapons wouldn't form. He said they wouldn't prosper (Isaiah 54:17) . I hit some bumps in the road (spiritually, financially, mentally, and physically). I went through a short season of confusion and lack of motivation. I was angry with God. I yelled at Him! (Ever seen me yelling and upset? Then you know this wasn't cute!) Literally, ye...

Serve Food...and Good Fashion

Thanksgiving is just days away! Three days, if you're counting (I know I am). Everyone is preparing to gather with family and friends around a wonderful feast of their favorite foods while giving thanks for all of the blessings they have received this year. My New Orleans family is joining us in Baton Rouge this year and I am really excited to see the food they bring...I mean, to see them. :-) While food is EXTREMELY important for that glorious day, this is also an opportunity to put together an ensemble worthy of the tons of holiday pictures Im sure will be taken. Even though there are only a few short days left, thats still plenty of time to put together a great look. To help you with your last minute wardrobe decisions, here are a few looks Ive put together. These are perfect for relaxed/casual to dressy casual dinner plans.  Get inspired and get ready for the official start to another fantastically fashionable holiday season! Or go for the look thats the most comforta...

And then the bottom fell out...

May 18, 2012 was one of the best days of my life. I had finally finished my undergrad degree. I smiled so hard that day. I felt so accomplished and as if I had endless possibilities just lined up in front of me. I had no idea what I was going to do or where life was going to take me, but I was ready for it.                 Candid shot taken of me immediately after being asked after graduation "So, whats next?"     Just weeks after graduating, I was offered a job with a great company that had amazing financial and medical benefits. I was extremely excited about it and was looking forward to advancing with the company. I packed up my bags and traveled to Texarkana, TX (yes, it’s as exciting as it sounds) several times over five weeks. I spent 10-12 hours a day, five to six days a week in training and the rest of my time sitting in a Country Inn and Suites room eating microwave dinners or takeout whil...

Spring Break Is Over...Now Finish Strong

I had 10 days of freedom recently! I was excited about doing absolutely nothing! I slept until lunch time just about every day. I enjoyed not having an alarm set. The only days my alarm was set were Sundays because I had to go to church. Spring Break doesnt mean Church break! Easter Sunday I got dressed up and attended noon mass. Much to my surprise, I saw my grandmother at that mass! After mass, I relaxed and ate some of the amazing meal of BBQ ribs, baked macaroni, green peas, and potato salad that my mom prepared. Overall, it was a good Easter and a good start to my Spring Break. As I mentioned in my previous post, my mind never lets me be completely lazy. Even though I slept until noon, within an hour of being awake I was usually writing posts for my fashion blog, working on school assignments, painting, cleaning my room or re-organizing my closets. My mind was going a million miles a minute! I got a lot accomplished, so I'm not complaining. My...

Whats Up With Coco?

Halfway through my final semester of undergrad! (insert applause and cheers here) I am counting down the days and keeping my eye on the prize! Business plans, papers and tests have kept my mind going! Im telling you, I am so ready to have that degree handed to me on May 18th. All my blood, sweat, and tears (literally) will finally seem worth it. I already have my cap, gown, graduation dress/shoes, and I am currently planning the after-graduation celebration! I. AM. READY!           7 weeks of class left & 70 days til graduation! Yesterday I was able to register for my first 3 grad school classes! That was surreal. Grad school definitely was not on my "To-Do" list! However, the closer I got to my last semester, the more I realized I still needed to learn more so that I could feel more prepared for the "real world". Well, that extra learning will begin on May 14th. Yes, 4 days before my undergrad graduation I will begin grad school...

My Life Right Now

I am currently a month into my last semester as an undergrad! I just cannot stop thanking God enough for bringing me this far. There was a time that I did not want to return to college. Now, Im 3 months away from graduating! I cannot believe it. I got my cap and gown on Valentine's Day and nearly cried when I tried it on. Its all becoming real for me. I am going to be accomplishing one of my major goals soon. Thats nothing but God's work!  Also on Valentine's Day, I received a Valentine gift from my mom and my stepdad. My mom knocked on my door at midnight and when I opened it, there was a huge card and a gift sitting there. The next morning I found another card and some Valentine's M&Ms from my stepdad. Later in the day, my sister and I surprised my mom with her favorite cake and some lunch and surprised my stepdad with his favorite pie and a card. It was a great day! I felt extremely loved.  I am a 6 foot tall woman, so I hear the question "Ar...

Family, Fur and Football

Wow, Christmas has come and gone! It went by so quickly! I hope that everyone enjoyed their Christmas! I know I did! I spent the day with my family and that was the best gift I received! I don't get to see my family in New Orleans much, so I was definitely excited about seeing them for Christmas. We laughed, ate, exchanged gifts and did a little karaoke LOL. It was a good day!             Some of my fabulous gifts: Lots of studs, sequins, and leopard! I LOVE IT!            Sewing machine case and some fabric from my Auntie Randi & her family :-)                          Got my 1st Kiss under the mistletoe! (me & my goddaughter Reah)        Right after she opened her gifts, she told me she loved me and gave me a big hug/kiss!                          ...
