Family, Fur and Football

Wow, Christmas has come and gone! It went by so quickly! I hope that everyone enjoyed their Christmas! I know I did! I spent the day with my family and that was the best gift I received! I don't get to see my family in New Orleans much, so I was definitely excited about seeing them for Christmas. We laughed, ate, exchanged gifts and did a little karaoke LOL. It was a good day!

Some of my fabulous gifts: Lots of studs, sequins, and leopard! I LOVE IT!

Sewing machine case and some fabric from my Auntie Randi & her family :-)

Got my 1st Kiss under the mistletoe! (me & my goddaughter Reah)

Right after she opened her gifts, she told me she loved me and gave me a big hug/kiss!

My little cousin Jawayne and my sister Kelly

Of course I had to take the opportunity to have a fashion moment! I was praying to the Fashion Gods the entire week before that they hold off the bad weather and send down some chilly air that would allow me to wear my planned ensemble. My prayers were answered! The temperature dropped and I was able to wear my fur vest! I was EXTREMELY excited! My look was a brown/black/tan fur vest, black long sleeve tee, knee length black pencil skirt, black tights and black booties. I wore gold/brown jewelry to accessorize the look. I felt so fab! My auntie Randi said I must've thought I was in New York! LOL Hey, everyday(especially a Holiday) is a fashion opportunity!

Fur vest: $40 at Versona Accessories
Skirt: $8.50 at Forever XX1
Tights: $5 at Target
Booties: Christmas gift :)

The day after Christmas was the big Saints vs. Falcons game. Anyone that knows me and my family, knows this was a BIG DEAL for us! Saints apparel was worn from head to toe. Nerves were shot. Blood pressure was through the roof. A football was handed to a fan with a Christmas bow. After 4 quarters of some good football, the Saints.....

CAME AWAY WITH THE VICTORY! 45-16!! They cooked those Dirty Birds up! What made the game even greater, our wonderfully humble quarterback Drew Brees broke a 27 year old record for most passing yards in a season! I cried! They stopped the game as soon as he threw the completed pass that broke the record. It was beautiful! Not only did it break the record, but the pass gave the Saints another touchdown! At the end of the game, our QB broke a record, we beat our biggest rival and we were the NFC South Champions! BEST GAME OF THE SEASON!

Made a shirt for my favorite Saint Jimmy Graham
Victoria's Secret Bling Saints lounge pants

My 2 year old godson Rory suited up for the game!

                          RECORD BREAKING QUARTERBACK DREW BREES!!

Totally gratuitous pictures of Jimmy Graham :)

After scoring a touchdown, Saints player Pierre Thomas (my sister's fave player) took a bow out of his uniform, put it on the football and handed it to a fan! Happy Holidays!

Congrats to the New Orleans Saints for another amazing season!

Next up, NEW YEARS EVE! Can you believe we are mere days away from 2012? Seems like this year went by so fast. Im not complaining though because 2012 has a lot in store for me! I'm starting my last semester of college in January, graduating in May, then jumping into the real world! I CANNOT WAIT!

It was a very exciting few days for me and I am so ready to see what else is in store me!

Love,

Thank You For Your Opinion

Someone told me recently that they think my degree in Fashion Merchandising will be worthless once I graduate next month. They actually said the word WORTHLESS. Had that person told me that about a year ago, I would've started thinking "Is my degree worthless?" "Will I get a job?" "Did I waste my time/money?" However, I have been in such a good place recently that my response to that was "Thank you for your opinion." I did not let the negativity get to me. Instead, I put it in the same pile as the rest of the negative comments I've received in the last few years. If I listened to everyone that said something negative (i.e. "You're not going to go back to school" "Grad school is not an option for you", etc.) then I would be sitting at home, in my room, drowning in my sorrow like I was a few years ago when I was suffering with depression and an anxiety disorder. I was able to pull myself out of depression and funct...

Undergrad has come to an end...But its FOREVER LSU!

In June 2009, I made my triumphant return to college. After sitting out of school for nearly 4 years, I officially became an LSU Tiger. I walked on campus (got lost!) and felt proud to be there. I was so excited to begin my journey as a Fashion Merchandising major. I was ready to see what LSU had in store for me. Now, its May 11,2012 and I am officially done with my undergraduate degree. I took my very last final this week and I am now awaiting graduation (7 days!). Can you believe it? One week until graduation. Signing my Senior Checkout papers I still remember my very first class, Intro to Fashion Design. I learned about colors, sketching, and fashion figures. I even designed my first "line". I still have that project on the wall of my room.                                       ...

I cant LYE, I love my Natural Hair

Hello, my name is Courtney and I used to be addicted to Creamy Crack. It was an addiction that lasted for years. Finally, about a year ago, I decided to kick that bad habit. Cold turkey. It wasn't easy, but I made it. I can happily say that I am finally natural and loving it!  The process of going natural is difficult. Anyone that tells you it isn't, is lying through their kinky curly head! Resisting the urge to perm is hard. There were many days that I would look in the mirror and just stare at my hair in pure disgust. I had a real love/hate relationship with my hair for a few months. Luckily, I have a live-in beautician (hey Kel-Bel!) that assisted me through the tough times. She was like my transition sponsor! She went through the process so it made my transition not as horrible as Ive heard they can be.                                        Me and my Naturally Beautiful siste...
